This is a special ticket for Wawel aficionados, who would like to spend many hours visiting all the exhibitions of the Wawel Royal Castle available on a given day, selected areas of Pieskowa Skała Castle: individual visit to the castle interiors, the new exhibition Old Polish Culture (saturday, sunday), and Stryszów Manor House.

The tour begins in the Promotion and Information Center building next to the Information Point, where you must collect the tour plan and the audio guide available as part of the paid ticket (normal, reduced price).

An audioguide is available for the Castle I, Castle II, Crown Treasury, The Armoury and The Lapidarium in English, Polish, Ukrainian, German, French, Italian, Spanish. We recommend the audio guide for visitors over 12 years of age.

Attention: From 1st October the Armoury will be closed.

Audio guides are available for collection in the Visitors Center next to the Information Point

This ticket is not recommended for families with young children (long visiting time, strollers are not permitted in the castles and manor, the Baggage Check is located in the Arcaded Courtyard).

Once reserved for the royal family and their courtiers and guests, these rooms hold Renaissance furnishings, Italian paintings from the Lanckoroński Collection, and Flemish tapestries from the holdings of King Sigismund II Augustus. Several rooms retain their original 16th-century painted wooden ceilings and friezes. the President of the Republic of Poland. Wawel’s collection of Meissen porcelain and table silver from the so-called Saxon period (1697–1763; Wettin kings Augustus II and Augustus III) are on view on this floor. Throughout its history, the vast Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth had myriad contacts with the lands of Islam, and their splendid arts and crafts struck a chord with the tastes of the Poles. Through trade contacts and military conflicts magnificent carpets, silks and wall hangings, arms and armor The collection of East Asian porcelain is testimony to 18th-century Europe’s fascination with distant and exotic China and Japan.

The ticket will include also the temporary exhibition: Magnificence of Rococo. Kaendler’s Meissen Porcelain Figures (24.V - 29.IX)

Periodically, on the opening dates of exhibitions, with a valid Castle First Floor ticket, you can enter the Royal Gardens. The Royal Gardens may be temporarily closed due to bad weather conditions.

The spacious, high-ceilinged rooms on the second floor were used for ceremonial events. Sessions of the sejm and senate, royal audiences, and wedding receptions and balls were held in these grand rooms. Following a catastrophic fire in 1595, the east and north wings of the Renaissance residence built by the Jagiellons were renovated in the early Baroque style by architect Giovanni Trevano for King Sigismund III. Consequently, this part of the castle has Baroque furnishings. Further on the second floor of the Castle are presented trophies from the Battle of Vienna of 1683 and historic objects associated with King John III Sobieski, such as three magnificent Ottoman tents. (The Wawel collection of Ottoman tents is the largest in Europe.)

During the season, this ticket also allows you to enter the Royal Gardens (due to bad weather conditions, the exhibition may be temporarily closed).

The exhibitions of the route are located partly in the basement of the Castle, partly on its ground floor. The “Lost Wawel” exhibition encompasses the 10th/11th-century Rotunda of Sts. Felix and Adauctus (aka Blessed Virgin Mary), and the remains of the royal kitchens (16th c.) and coach house (16th/17th c.). Objects from archaeological digs, scale models of historical Wawel buildings, and a collection of Renaissance stove tiles are displayed. Stone sculptures and architectural details are on view in the lapidarium, which also includes 19th-century plaster casts of the carved stone decoration from the Wawel Cathedral’s Sigismund Chapel.

The Lapidarium with audio guide: in the cellars of the royal palace presents a hitherto unexhibited collection of early modern architectural details and stone sculptures discovered during archeological excavations and preserved from the 19th century to the present day. For the first time, visitors will be able to see how the Renaissance residence was built, experience history hidden for centuries, and learn about the people to whom we owe the restoration of Wawel Royal Castle.

Seasonally with a valid ticket you will also be able to see the Church of Saint Gereon: The archaeological and architectural reserve located beneath the west wing of the Renaissance castle encompasses the relics of the Romanesque church of Saint Gereon and the Gothic church of Saint Mary of Egypt, as well as an ensemble of Romanesque architectural details. The Church of Saint Gereon will be open until September 29, 2024

Significant objects connected to Poland’s history are displayed in twelve rooms. There are exquisite works in gold and silver, jewelry, textiles, and ornate parade arms and armor. The exhibition occupies the Gothic and Renaissance rooms in the north part and corner of the castle that from t 14th century onward housed the Polish coronation insignia and the crown jewels of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. On view here are priceless objects from the original Crown Treasury, such as the coronation sword Szczerbiec, heirlooms of Polish monarchs that have survived war and pillage, and splendid gold and silver objects created by Western European and Polish goldsmiths. A large collection of weapons, armour, parade saddles, and equestrian equipment dating from the Middle Ages to the 18th century is displayed in the Armoury. As part of exhibition, you can see, among others a unique set of state insignia—painted and embroidered banners, including the great court banner executed for the wedding of King Sigismund II Augustus and Catherine of Austria in 1553—are on view in the first room. The court banner is the oldest and largest preserved object of its kind. In the next two rooms, the golden age of the Commonwealth’s military is illustrated by equestrian equipment and parade weapons from the 16th through the 17th centuries the mantle of the Order of the Holy Spirit, the most precious several dozen silver-gilt parade vessels and several hundred priceless objects ranging from antiquity to the late 18th century. bilia related to the history of Poland of great value and importance are displayed in twelve rooms.

Do you want to see the most spectacular view in Krakow? Welcome to Wawel! We are now opening a completely new observation deck on the roof of the Small Tower, located in the immediate vicinity of the royal palace and the highest Senatorial Tower in the castle. After climbing 101 stairs and reaching the cloister, you can admire the stunning panorama of the castle surroundings. Of course, you can clearly see the area of Wawel Hill and the Old Town. From the observation deck there is also a view of the former city and today the Kazimierz district with impressive silhouettes of churches and the former town hall, as well as the picturesquely meandering Vistula. The whole is completed by the green side of the city – the Sowiniec range, above which rise majestically Srebrna Góra with the Camaldolese monastery in Bielany and the Kościuszko and Piłsudski Mounds. In good weather, the distant peaks of the Tatra Mountains and the Babia Góra range can also be seen on the horizon. The Small Tower, with an observation deck on its roof, was built in the 1940s to connect the southern frontage of the palace cloisters with the administration building. This is where a new castle exhibition presenting the history of the Wawel town will soon be opened.

The Royal Gardens were reconstructed based on years of study and research on Renaissance gardens. The plants used and arrangements of pathways and beds as well as architectural elements evoke the atmosphere of gardens of the period. The gardens encompass an upper and lower terrace and a small vineyard. If the weather will be bad gardens could be temporarily closed.

"Contrasts" sculptures by Paweł Orłowski (exhibition open until September 29, 2024) in the Wawel gardens become installations whose meaning originates from genius loci of the royal residence. Presenting the sculptures in this space is not an artistic intervention but a surprising synergy of old and contemporary art, a complementary story of art, history, and human fate. The presented works become an integral part of this space. Situating them on the view axes, between the castle walls and plants, keeping the proportions, reflecting light…
